The Launch of Ciba® ALCOTAC® organic binders and new processing systems for agglomeration have revolutionized the iron ore pelletisation industry. Our products add true value to our customer’s processes, delivering more uniform pellets with increased porosity resulting in improved reducibility.

The Ciba® ALCOTAC® is burnt off during the induration stage of iron ore pelletisation, resulting in an end product with higher porosity an hence a more saleable pellet. Further advantages are they are synthetic, organic and non-toxic.

Importantly the replacement of bentonite means the elimination of up to 0.4 % silica (associated with the bentonite). This allows producers to process ores with higher silica content and yet still maintain or lower the silica content of the fired pellets.

Ciba® ALCOTAC® binders are also effective green strength enhancers used in briquetting, granulating and extruding processes.
