The Newport, Delaware plant develops and produces high performance pigments for use in inks, paints and plastics. The site was purchased in 1984 from DuPont and has undergone significant changes since that time.

In June 2000, Ciba completed an 8-year, $180 million modernization program at the Newport facility. New, state-of-the-art DPP and Quinacridone pigment plants were built to provide customers with quality, high-performance pigments and improve the company's global market position. The modernization program also included major investment in environmental improvements, which resulted in several environmental awards, including recognition by the EPA for Environmental Excellence.

The site is also home to part of Coating Effects Technical Service and Research and Development. Newport employs approximately 250 people and is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 registered.
