The plant Schweizerhalle is an important production site for the segment Coating Effects of Ciba. In addition, the site plays a major role for the process development activities of the Coating Effects and Plastic Additives segments. The plant is situated near the river Rhine, at six kilometers distance to Basel. With a railway and ship connection and the closeness to the motorway, Schweizerhalle has an excellent infrastructure.

The process development unit and the multipurpose production facilities allow for a high degree of flexibility and make the site strategically important for the segments Plastic Additives and Coating Effects. Innovation, fastness and flexibility being of vital importance for a successful market launch, new products are mainly developed in Schweizerhalle, where they are also scaled up from lab to production level.

Schweizerhalle moreover disposes of a global dispatch center, an ultramodern plant for standardization, filling and packaging of pigments as well as a container cleaning station.

The environmental engineering department at the site not only supports the development of environment-friendly technologies, it also offers services to other companies. Today, this unit forms part of our newly established business line Ciba® Expert Services.
