Group EHS is part of the Group Service Law and Environment, which has the task of managing risk and loss prevention within the Ciba organisation. Group EHS covers

• environmental protection;
• health protection;
• work and process safety;
• product stewardship and safety;
• emergency management;
• compliance with international agreements such as the Chemical Weapons Convention;
• transport safety.

The main tasks of Group EHS are:

• defining roles and responsibilities at group, segment (including supply chain services) and regional levels;
• setting up and maintaining EHS Networks with representatives of segment, regional and national organisations and sites;
• developing company internal standards;
• auditing compliance with these standards;
• consulting and advising the Segments, Regions and sites on all EHS matters;
• setting of group EHS targets;
• performance measurement and reporting;
• training;
• participation in national and international task forces and groups, which are active in developing cross-industry and -company positions, procedures and standards.
